My ancestors moved to the U.S. from Germany. My grandfather (first generation born in the U.S.) died before I could meet him and before he could pass along German recipes. Here's one that I look forward to trying when my father visits. I'll also be checking back to this blog, Tales of a Trophy Wife, for more Oktoberfest foods. Yum.

Sausage in the Oven - great idea and a bit healthier.

Spaetlze
The German side dish. Carbs, very good.

Slowcooker Applesauce

Teriyaki Sauce with Chicken
This is a super simple recipe for teriyaki. I like to marinate fresh salmon in this type of sauce and then broil or bake. Very good. Looking forward to making my own sauce instead of buying something from the store (that has a bunch of junk in it).  Thanks, Mushki Loves, for posting this great recipe.

1/2 c. soy sauce
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. dry mustard
5-8 Chicken breasts

Mix all together in a saucepan, bring to a boil. Pour over chicken breasts. Bake at 350 for an hour or until tender.

Thanksgiving Appetizer
Now, I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving!
